Bar Avignon is a perfect little spot on 21st and SE Division. The small tables feel intimate, the bar is long and the food and drinks are amazing. Farm-to-table is common all over Portland, but the owners here describe their food as “seed-to-plate” collaborating with local gardeners to get exactly what they want for a menu. We had a delicious meal that was competitively priced and enjoyed good conversation over wine flights and craft cocktails. One drink called Dali’s Framboisier combined old tom gin with lime and featured house-made raspberry shrub paired with Amontillado sherry. Mixing shrub with sherry was a revelation! We can’t wait to bring a bigger party to their semi-private table in the back. From solid classic cocktails with homemade ingredients to inspiring original recipes and world-class food, we will definitely be back again.
